The Mama's of the Motherwell and Wells Estate make up the core of the ministries being done in these areas. They are the hands and feet that go out into these neighborhoods caring for those that are sick, feeding those that are hungry and comforting those who are ill. They know the needs in their village and they know what that have to do to help their community. By educating and equipping them they can carry out the changes that are needed in their corner of the world.
Every day these Mamas help run the multiple soup clubs in the community by cooking meals for over to 200 kids. Often times this is the only guaranteed meal these children will have for a day and it is great way for the women to jut love on the kids in they neighborhood and minister to them. At the community center they run a preschool for children of working mothers, an HIV support group, a kitchen to feed 150 kids after school, a weekly Bible study, and a place for kids to come after school to play, be safe and do their homework.
There are also Mamas that volunteer as community care workers. Collecting whatever medicine and extra food can be provided and go to the houses throughout the community of those that are home bound. Making sure they have a meal, taking their medicine and are made as comfortable as possible. Educating the families of the sick on how to care for them even with their limited resources.
